SCSA
T4 RockinghamInteresting news from the Rock about a new short oval circuit.
Remains to be seen whether BriSCA will feature but given the number of drivers that have raced there over the seasons and have F1 background it would seem a natural choice. Only fear is too much politics to make it work..?

Red mistWeather's far too hot, so haven't been in the mood for sitting down to write stuff.
Anywho, went to the Rock and despite fewer cars than normal still a pretty decent day out. First race marred by a long period of yellows. Then confusion in the 2nd race towards the end when 6 of the 14 cars were blacked flagged for infringements including 1st and 2nd places. Seemingly their teams had discussions and decided the officials were wrong and stayed out. Then by all accounts they retained their positions after the event. Other cars took their penalties.
Unlike F1 where Michelin told their teams not to race and being in the US of A with their litigious nature they didn't. Perhaps fortunately I was up in the NE where the storms were and the TV transmitter went down so I could only see a snowy black and white picture meaning I missed most of the fiasco.
Michelin made a serious mistake but I think what brought the F1 circus into more serious disrepute is that a compromise couldn't be reached. Will USA want them back - I'd be surprised but no doubt there'll be moves behind the scenes to make sure the show goes on.

OK so it's a bit soon to be checking on the weather for the next Rockingham but as the tickets have arrived, I thought I'd get ready for the rain check.
Talking of rain, controversy reigns over the news that developers have bought the land at Rockingham leasing it back to RMS. The debate centres on whether its a sell-out for profit or if it secures the future of SCSA racing and RMS itself.
Unfortunately at the moment the 2 (SCSA & RMS) go hand in hand. There is only the one banked oval circuit in the UK capable of running SCSA so if RMS goes so does the series. Talking of an uncertain future can only be negative for the series as I cannot see teams laying out the capital expenditure needed to run in SCSA if there's no future for the cars. Likewise the all important sponsors aren't going to make long term investments.
Its going to be troubling times and I don't know where the answer lies. It was a brave committment to bring modern US style racing to the UK, there is interest for it but will it be enough? There may not be the time to increase exposure - the series needs to expand its customer base by extending its venues but it needs to establish a firm base before it can expand. So far this year car numbers have been down, which isn't the best basis for expanding.
