Been missing keeping this up to date but its just been too hot to sit in the office thinking of what to put. Plus a neglected garden's been shouting at me.

So what's been happening?

Big news was spending last weekend at Silverstone for the Grand Prix.
British Grand Prix 2005
All in all a great experience and an enjoyable couple of days. The race itself may not have made for the best television but the atmosphere in the 100k crowd made it exciting - the roar that went up when JPM took Alonso was unbelievable. Nearly as loud as the 65k cheer that went up when Jenson put in the provisional pole lap time on the Saturday. Quite funny really as Schmacher took to the track after Jenson so you had the cheers for JB then a few seconds later the jeers for MS.

Also fascinating was arriving at Silverstone at 8:00 to find the Fosters bar open and people knocking back lager for breakfast. Suppose if you'd been there since the gates opened 8:00 would be lunchtime. But what was really brilliant about this was that 100k people could spend the day in peaceful enjoyment as I saw no aggravation anywhere. So it is possible!

Silverstone has come in for a lot of stick over the last few years but having nothing to compare this years efforts to I'd have to say it was all slickly run - virtually no hold up getting to the cicuit - queuing to get in was quite painless - the facilities were clean and respectable and an army of staff was on hand to keep bins and that from overflowing. So well done.

Time for a change again.

The previous entries here under the admin name are from the previous incarnation of my log. I've changed partly for the sake of it and partly that this looks more like a Web log. Easily installed and up and running in no time it appears this is going to be quicker to update and includes a comment section which was still in development on the old site.

Weather's far too hot, so haven't been in the mood for sitting down to write stuff.

Anywho, went to the Rock and despite fewer cars than normal still a pretty decent day out. First race marred by a long period of yellows. Then confusion in the 2nd race towards the end when 6 of the 14 cars were blacked flagged for infringements including 1st and 2nd places. Seemingly their teams had discussions and decided the officials were wrong and stayed out. Then by all accounts they retained their positions after the event. Other cars took their penalties.

Unlike F1 where Michelin told their teams not to race and being in the US of A with their litigious nature they didn't. Perhaps fortunately I was up in the NE where the storms were and the TV transmitter went down so I could only see a snowy black and white picture meaning I missed most of the fiasco.

Michelin made a serious mistake but I think what brought the F1 circus into more serious disrepute is that a compromise couldn't be reached. Will USA want them back - I'd be surprised but no doubt there'll be moves behind the scenes to make sure the show goes on.
